Fundamental evidence exists that a large population of students in Africa are unable to transition to higher education and gain sufficient knowledge and skills to remain relevant in the 21st century world of work. Evidence also suggests that, Africa consists of a large number of highly educated people currently unemployed due to inequalities between work demand and labor market supply.
Employers consider a large proportion of graduates to be under-skilled and thus insufficient for the modern marketplace. There is a substantial gap between the abilities of job applicants and the requirements of organizations.
This anomaly is predominantly accelerated by the high cost of professional training, the poor accessibility to high-quality higher
education, lack of appropriate curriculum material matching the dynamic demands of the 21st century marketplace.
With the digitization of every sector, the world is becoming a global economy. Africa cannot continue to be on the sidelines – Africa needs economically-wide digital integration across all sectors.
